Commercial solar PV

commercial solar PV installation on Grimsby Freeman Street Market, total of 26kWp 3 phase system on a metal roof

Leeds Solar are West Yorkshire’s solar specialists, installing solar power for low carbon electricity generation, water heating and now space heating.

Since the launch of the Feed In Tariff, the number of MCS certified solar PV installation companies has been increasing exponentially, so it must be hard to decide who to turn to for advice on the best options for making the best use of your roof.

Leeds Solar aim to make this choice a little simpler, as we’re MCS certified systems designers and installers for the full range of solar technologies, we can offer   an impartial overview of the pros and cons of each potential option. Systems we can offer include:-

Solar PV – electricity

Leeds Solar offer Value, High Spec and Ultra efficient solar PV system options from manufacturers including Suntech, Hyundai, Schott, Sanyo, SMA, Aurora and Schuco.

We have experience of installing on to both 3 phase an single phase electricity supplies, G59 applications, planning applications, metal roofs, fibre roofs, metal framed buildings, and of course tiles and slates.

Up to 10kWp systems can be installed on 3 phase supplies without needing advance permission (although planning permission is required in England and Wales), with up to 50kWp systems possible on many larger business roofs.

All systems would benefit from Feed In Tariff payments, with annual returns on investment of 8-12% possible at January 2012 prices and FIT payment levels, and good levels of on site energy and carbon savings in a business situation due to the high levels of daytime electricity use. We may also be able to source outside financing for suitable installations.

Solar Water Heating

If your business has a high level of hot water demand a solar water heating system could well be a cost effective option to reduce your business's fuel bills and carbon foot print.

Solar PVT & Heatpump – Electricity, hot water and space heating

Next generation solar technology, combining solar PVT panels with a heat pump to use the PV array as the heat source for the heat pump. This system can boost PV output by 15-20% by extracting heat from the rear of the panels, as well as boosting the heat pump’s performance (COP) compared to a standard air source heat pump by increasing the input temperature to the heat pump.

This system would be perfect for a business situation as the vast majority of the heating demand will be in the daytime when electricity from the PV system will be available to power the heatpump as well as contributing to the  business’s electricity usage.

For business sized systems, Solar PVT / Heat pump combination systems should be eligible for payments both from the Feed In Tariff and Renewable Heat Incentive schemes.

Depending upon the size of the system and heating demand, these systems could supply up to 60% of your business's heating demand from the PV generated electricity, and is also capable of supplying heat at night and in cloudy weather via the heat pump function.
