Less space, more power
With an Ultra Efficient PV system using the HIT panels, Leeds Solar can fit roughly 20% more generating capacity into the same roof area. For example, a 3.8 kWp·Ultra Efficient·array can fit into the same roof area as a 3.1 kWp Value array.

Hybrid PV Technology
Sanyo's HIT panels sandwich 2 different types of PV technology together to maximse the range of light frequencies that the panels can convert into electricity.
This results in up to 19% module efficiency, or around a 20% increase in power output for the same surface area of panels.
Improved High Temperature Performance
PV panels heat up in direct sunlight, and their efficiency reduces the hotter the panels get.
HIT panels are much less affected by heat, meaning that at the highest temperatures on clear, still summer days, HIT panels can produce 10% more power than a similarly rated standard panel. This can be seen in practice in the graph to the right comparing the performance of a standard system with a HIT system over the course of a summer day.
For the more technically minded, the HIT panels lose 0.3% of performance per degree above 25oC, whereas the Moser Baer panels lose 0.43% and the Yingli Solar panels 0.45% per degree. The affect of this is shown in the graph below.
